River came to us from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, from the kennel Coastalight Flat-Coated Retrievers, in February 2005. She is smart and quick and lots of fun, loves to retrieve, and has become my great partner in the field. In September 2010 she became a Master Hunter, a goal held since Beau and I started in this game, but weren’t able to finish. Thank you, Beau, for helping us get here!

I love how quickly and easily she learns, her love of the game and her quiet and steady ways. She’s made us very proud!

Rudy came to us as a foster when he was 5.5 months old. I didn’t want this thrice rejected wild thing in my house at Christmastime, but such is rescue.  We all fell in love with him, especially his buddy Franklin and he just had to stay.  While he is more of a snuggler than a worker, he is a very birdy boy and loves doing field stuff. 

Rudy is finally becoming a flyball dog, earning his FDCh on 10/10/09 and coming very close to his FDCh-Silver, which will only take one more good heat!   Not the speedster his sister Marcie is, but he knows his job!

Boone joined our family in 2009 at 3 years old under the saddest of circumstances . . . his owner, Sharon Rich, passed away from ovarian cancer at age 52.  I’m honored that Sharon entrusted me with Boone’s future, and grateful for the excellent foundation she gave him.   Always a fun yet capable dog in training and competition, Boone matured into a gracious service dog as well.  Coming out of show retirement when he was nearly 10 years old, Boone won a JAM in Best of Breed at the 2015 National Specialty, and he continued to enjoy a fun and active life until we reluctantly sent him along to meet Sharon at the Rainbow Bridge just two weeks before his 11th birthday.

Bekkr is a great addition to our family, so easy to live with and quite the character. He joined our family shortly after we lost Beau — a liver male, he is in direct line of descent from our Bonnie’s pedigree, so the decision was easy. Bekkr is a very enthusiastic retriever and a strong swimmer and retriever in water. He loves to surf the waves at the beach, and when not swimming can usually be found stalking shore birds, to no avail :-)!

Bekkr has been an exciting as well as challenging dog in the field, given his strong natural hunting abilities and nose, and a less than perfect work ethic. I had to solve more training problems with him than with River, but he taught me a lot. On October 2013, before a home crowd at the PVGRC fall hunt test, Bekkr and I met a long-held goal for Team Bekkr to complete his AKC Master Hunter title. I’m very proud of this sweet boy!!
