A throw away from a puppy mill became a loving companion and a life long friend.  I am so glad you came into my life.  What a great dog.

Icon is my first Flat Coated Retriever.  I wanted a dog that could do agility in the morning, obedience in the afternoon and still go hiking in the evening.  I got that dog and lots more.  He is pushy, over the top and intense.  He is also the best snuggler, dog marshal and best watch dog in the house.

Traditionally, “selkies” were mythical creatures: half seal & half human;living partly at sea and partly on land (while always longing to be in the water).   In our minds, this is the 1 nature of Flat-Coats! On the Orkney Isles, ‘selkie’ is still the word for ‘seal’.  Our Selkie lives up to her name by being a strong, agile, and enthusiastic swimmer with an impish personality.  Very much like her mother (Dory), Selkie *is* our seal!
